GROUP LEADER REPORT 2001
Good afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen, parents, leaders and fellow scouts.
Year 2000 has been another great year for the Quang Trung Group, with all sections participating in many scouting activities with the district and involved with the Vietnamese community.
This is our eighth year and it is one of our greatest years to date because we have our first venturer, Sue Pham to obtained a Queen Scout Award. There were some decision made and change of leadership during the year. The most notable of these were:
I) LEADER:
- Mr An Nguyen has resigned as ASL
- Ms Chi Nguyen has achieved her warrant in ACSL
- Mr Thien Huynh had joined as an ASL
- Mr Tu Nguyen had joined as an acting VL
- Mr Dat Nguyen had promoted to AVL
II) MEMBER: 30
-Cub scout 11
-Scout 8
-Venturer 5
-Leader 6
All sections had been active throughout the year with the exception of venturers because of small number and change of leadership.
AIM FOR 2001
I) All new leaders to complete their warrant training
II) Encourage older venturers to become scout
helpers
III) Encourage all scout members to wear correct
uniform in all meetings.
I would like to thank the group committee for maintaining the hall and provide all the needs for our activities and special thanks to all my leaders for their time and efforts in keeping their section running smoothly and finally I would like to thank the district team in keeping our leaders up to date in training with the scout movement.
Regards and Good Scouting

Quang Trung Venturer Unit
VENTURER REPORT 2001
During the year 2000 the venturer unit had helped the group in various way, such as maintaining all the camping gears in good condition and decorating the hall for all our groups functions.
This year we made history by the hard work of Sue Pham, our first venturer to obtained a Queen Scout Award. This award is not only special to Sue but to all our scouts. It is a motivation for our junior venturers and scouts to put time and efforts in learning new skills and enjoy the adventurous scout life had to offer.
I especially would like to extend my sincere thank
to Mr Brian Saunders in guiding Sue Pham to achieved one of the highest
award in Venturer and helping our unit in various activities.

AGM Scouts 2001
1. General achievements
The Troop is very delighted to welcome Mr. Thien Huynh to be ASL. In the short time with us since October, Thien has completed stage 1 and 2 of leader training stages and recently completed his 6 weeks service, ready for stage 3.
2. Section activity
The troop`s number has dropped slightly due to family relocation, transfer to venturer. Over the year we had one new recruit.
All the scouts are trying very hard on their badge work. One have earned pioneer badge, other have earned various target and challenge badges.
Activities participated:
- The troop attended Stradbroke cup 2000
at Gilwell and won two silver awards
- The troop had a one day hike at Dandenong
National Park in November 2000 , added 12kms to the scouts hike log book
- Participated in group camp, September
2000. The troop has enjoyed the three days in mixed activities with
cub scouts, run by group`s leaders and venturers

Quang Trung Cub Scout Pack
PACK ANNUAL REPORT 2000 - 2001
The Pack has been steady this year. The attendance has been around 9-10 cub scouts every week with two leaders on regularly. Although we did not have any grandiose activities as such that is adventurous, we have a annual program that we stick with through out the year.
The Pack also enjoyed some district activities
day kindly organised by the Glen District or South Region such as Bowling
Day, Water Activities Day. Other activities we missed out due to
circumstances. The most notable was the Group Camp's Mini Olympic
(to coincide with the Sydney Olympic) that has fun filled activities and
the campfire was also full of songs and acts.
The running of the Pack was no way near perfect
however we have a new ACSL, Kim Chi who have finished her Stage 3 Training
and In-Service Training. Thanks to Glen District again for their
supports. We are continually improving with efforts and learning
by doing. We are hoping another ACSL soon in this year.
In two months the Cub Scouts also managed to
learn the Semaphore Codes: sending and receiving short messages in semaphore.
Next stage will be Deaf Alphabets and Morse Code! Perhaps.
With your supports from the parents, District
and community, we will last as long as can be, and develop and expand far
and wide so as to give something positive back to the society.
Yours in Scouting,
On behalf of the Pack Leaders,
Minh Huu Nguyen.
